Aline T. Legere

November 14, 1928 ~ January 22, 2021 (age 92)


Aline T. Legere, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Barron Center in Portland where she had resided for the last 5 years.

She was born on November 14, 1928 to the late Ralph and Leonie (Cormier) Leriche in Sanford where she grew up and attended local schools including St. Ignatius School.She, like so many others then went to work in the local shoe shops in town. 

In 1949 Aline married Rudolph Legere and together they shared  44 years of marriage.  Aline was a devout catholic and was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church. 

When her family was younger, they enjoyed taking Sunday rides sometimes going to Portland and getting a bite to eat. 

She liked to spend her time crocheting, doing puzzles, embroidery and reading romance novels. Most of all, Aline was dedicated to her family.  She was always uplifting and positive which attributed to her long life. She would always say, “Just take one day at a time”.

She is predeceased by her husband Rudolph Legere who passed in 1992, and a brother Robert Leriche. 

Survivors include her daughter Susan Dawalga and her husband Michael Sr. of Sanford, her son Paul Legere and his wife Diana of Springvale, a brother Richard Leriche, her grandchildren Amy Saindon and her husband Norman of Windham, Michael Dawalga Jr. and his wife Renee of Hannibal, NY, Eric Dawalga of Sanford, Kirt Legere of Sanford and Keith Legere and his wife Ashely of Lebanon, and her great grandchildren Colby, Emily, Jacob, Hadley, Paisley, and Rudy.

A private mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29 at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.  Interment will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery in the spring.
