Eleanor E. Palmer, 94, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation in Sanford where she had resided for several years.
She was born on January 7, 1927 to Perley and Mamie (Goodrich) Palmer in Springvale where she grew up and attended Sanford schools.
El made her living as a repairer at local shoe shops including Converse Shoe and Universal Shoe.
She loved music but her favorite was country and western. She was especially fond of Johnny Cash. One of her favorite places was at her camp on Square Pond in which she shared with her mother.
Eleanor enjoyed flower gardening and had rock gardens and liked to collect dolls. She enjoyed eating out and going on day trips. She kept her hands busy crocheting and shared the things she made with those around her.
She was a fairly introverted person, until she moved to the Pinnacle (formerly Greenwood Center). It was there that she seemed to blossom and become a social butterfly. She enjoyed participating and being involved in bingo and all of the activities.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Donald and Robert Palmer and her nephew in law James Hoffmaster.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Donna Hoffmaster of Alfred, Danny Palmer and his wife Diane of Springvale, Davy and his wife Jeanne of Sanford, Darlene Spencer and her husband Wayne of Shapleigh, Doreen Ciullo and her husband David of Springvale, and Gregory and Scott Palmer as well as many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 14 at 10:00 A.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale followed by a burial at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in El's name to the Pinnacle Health and Rehabilitation Center activities fund at 1142 Main St., Sanford, ME 04073.
