Jeannette A. Breiding, 87, of Lyman, formerly of Sanford, died on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
Jeannette was born in Lewiston on August 5, 1933, one of nine children born to Henry and Estelle (Smith) Johnson. She grew up in Lewiston where she attended local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School. Jeannette raised four children and shared 51 years of marriage with her husband, Charles Breiding, Sr. before his death in 2011.
During her working life, Jeannette was employed for several years as a cna at Hillcrest in Sanford and then as a medical secretary at a doctor’s office, however, she devoted the majority of her life to raising and caring for her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the primary focus and love of her life. She was also an avid reader, often finishing a book in a single day and she enjoyed cooking. She took pride in preparing delicious meals for her family and always made sure that everyone was well fed. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Charles Breiding, Sr. and by her daughter, Ann Breiding Kumph.
Surviving are three children, Dorothy Dyer and her husband Paul of Lyman; Nancy Dyer and her husband Donald of North Yarmouth and Charles Breiding, Jr. and his wife Brandy of Springvale; 13 grandchildren, Brian, Mark, Steven, Jonathan, Matthew, Jacob, Jason, Michael, Ethan, Aaron, Owen, Noah and Lily; 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 24th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.
