Obituary

Marion E. Baron, 84, of Sanford, died on January 26, 2021 at her home with her family following a brief illness.

Marion was born on July 8, 1936 to Edward and Viola (McGinnis) Bernier in Sanford where she grew up and attended the local Catholic schools, graduating from St. Ignatius High School.  In 1956 she married Raymond J. Baron and together they raised two children and shared 53 years of marriage until his death in 2010.

During her working life she held several jobs including employment at American Cyanamid, Lovell’s Pharmacy, as a real estate agent for the Stanley Agency and finally as a clerk at the district court in Springvale where she stayed for many years until her retirement. 

Marion was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford.  She lived on Square Pond for many years when she was younger.  She loved boating, water skiing, gardening, snowmobiling and entertaining family and friends at the pond.  She was an excellent cook and her family always looked forward to her delicious meals, especially her pork pies and baked beans.  She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Baron and by two siblings, Rita Pelletier and Roland Bernier.

Surviving are two children, Michael Baron and his wife Lisa M. of Olmsted Falls, Ohio and Lisa Ann Baron of Sanford; two grandchildren, Taylor Frances Baron and her fiancé Brandon Salemi of Seven Hills, Ohio and Maxwell Raymond Baron of Los Angeles, California; a sister, Sr. Maria Goretti, OSU of Lewiston, Maine; three sisters-in-law, Betty Bernier; Dolores Baron and Doris Madore and her husband Ralph and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

There will be no services held at this time.  A family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
